FAQ
What if my child won’t sit still?
That’s completely fine, in fact, it’s exactly what I expect. I encourage children to roam, play, explore, and just be themselves. The best images come from movement and natural moments, not sitting perfectly still.
What if it rains?
If the weather isn’t on our side, we simply reschedule to another day. I want your session to feel relaxed and enjoyable, and good weather makes a big difference to the final images.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes, absolutely, I love including pets in sessions. Dogs are part of the family too, and they always add such natural, joyful moments to your photos.
What should we wear?
I always recommend soft, neutral tones and comfortable clothing that you can move in. Think creams, whites, earthy tones, light colours such as soft blues, and light textures. Avoid bold logos, busy patterns or very bright colours(especially anything neon, this doesn’t photograph well) so the focus stays on connection and emotion rather than outfits.
Which location is best for young children?
The options for Summer Stories are woodlands, the beach, or your own garden. All three work beautifully for children, but I do recommend choosing a place your child knows and feels comfortable in, somewhere you already spend time together. Familiar surroundings help them relax, which naturally leads to the most genuine and beautiful moments.
Can grandparents join?
Yes! These sessions are about your family story, and that can include grandparents, cousins and pets. The more love and connection, the better the story.
How long does a session last?
Sessions usually last around 60 minutes, depending on your child’s mood and the location. I always work at a relaxed pace with no pressure or rush.
What time of day do sessions take place?
I usually schedule sessions in the late afternoon or evening when the light is soft and golden, this gives the most natural and flattering results. Morning sessions are also available if that works better for your family, and I’m always happy to be flexible where I can. On bright sunny days, I do tend to avoid the middle of the day (around 12–2pm) as the light can be quite harsh and overhead, which creates strong shadows and makes it harder to achieve that soft, natural look for your photos.
