I do have all pieces pictured available for use in my client closet, you are always welcome to borrow them for your session! Mum’s, If you’re not a dress sort of gal, don’t feel pressured into wearing one. I want the beauty of YOU to come across in your images and this can only be achieved when you’re comfortable in your choice of outfit. Same goes for your children, comfort always comes first.
Complimenting colours
Using shades that can be found in the natural environment around the location is one of my favourite tips for styling. It always photographs wonderfully.
beige/cream - sand
blue - sky and sea
white - clouds
green - beaches leading down from grass
Accessories/layers
Denim jacket
Straw hat
Headbands/hair accessories
Cardigans
Cosy blankets
Jewellery for mum
Contrasting colours
Rustic orange and bold red/coral/pink tones photograph lovely together in contrast to the blue sea and sometimes sky depending on our unpredictable Scottish weather. Add a pop of colour with some accessories if you’re unsure about making your full outfit bold colours.
Monochromatic
Using only one colour to style everyone in different pieces. The key here is to use different fabrics, textures, shades and accessories. Coordinating vs matching tends to photograph a little bit better.
Avoid
Baby pink, it tends to look too washed out and photographs more white at the beach. If going for that look I suggest just sticking to the white. Deeper shades are lovely however again, avoid any bright/magenta pink shades, nothing neon as colour casts onto the skin when the sun is shining. For instance, red, magenta, even bright blue will be reflected onto your face. Light or neutral coloured clothing for summer is a huge plus.
